  1. Coffee is a seed which is contained in the berry of an every green shrub which grows in hot countries. It grows well in moist air and well-drained soil. Therefore, the hill-slopes of the two Indies are well suit to its cultivation.
    The coffee in its wild state is about twenty or thirty feet high and the coffee-planter prunes it down to the height of five or six feet so that it would contain better fruit & hold that fruit within easy reach.
