    Dear Srgt Reynolds,
I wish to draw your attention to a number of thefts which have been committed in our house, and neighbouring houses recently. About a fortnight ago there were two geese stolen out of our shed. The next night there was a spade and shovel stolen from Mr. Walsh. three nights after a washing-tub was stolen from Mr. Duffy and turf from Mr. Staunton.
The whole village is in a state of consternation and if this state of affairs is allowed to continue we will not be able to live. I should be thankful if you would attend to this matter.
