    Dear Srgt. Reynolds,
    I wish to draw your attention to a number of thefts that have occurred in our house and in neighbouring houses recently. About a week ago two ducks were stolen out of our shed. Later we hear that a cart of turf, some geese and a bicycle were stolen from our neighbours. The whole village is in consternation. If this work is going to continue we shall not be able to live.
    I hope you will give your attention to this matter and call to the village as soon as you can and try
