The night of the big wind was about 80 years ago there were a great many houses knocked down also cocks of hay and a great many people were lost on sea and the people used to have to put weights on the roofs of their houses trying to keep them down because they had thatched houses in the olden times and the houses were made of clay made into mortar, and the roofs were made of sticks so it was easy to blow them away.
