  1. There are a great many ruined churches over the country. Cromwell's Army knocked a great many Churches. It is told they made sure to knock the gables of the churches first as the Altar was usually erected in the gables.
    There is an old ruin of a Church in Dysart Grave yard the gable of which is still standing. Because a man named Felim na Gruaige " offered Cromwell' Soldiers oats for their horses. The Officer in charged thanked Felim and said that is good for you and rode away leaving the gables standing
