- There is a fair held in Ballygar every month. There are pigs, sheep, and cattle, sold at it. When the farmers have their animals sold the man who buys them puts a mark of the animals lug.
When the man who buys the cattle pays for them the man who sold them gives him some money for luck and it is called "luck penny" and it was an old custom to "spit" on the money that is given for luck.
