- In olden times people used to eat nearly all oaten bread. they were stronger and a lot more healthy, than the people now-a-days. They used to make the bread with a little flour and nearly all meal. It was mixed with water only.
They also used to make boxty and potato cake. Boxty was made with new potatoes mixed with flour and moistened with water it was baked on a griddle.
