    Hedge Schools.
    There were no schools in Ireland long ago. The way the children were educated, one man from around the place used to go secretly from one place to another teaching them. The way this man was paid - the children used to bring him his meals, and two pence each day.
    The children's parents used to keep him at night lodging. Some of the children had a long distance to come to school but they were glad to get a chance of being taught.
