   Bread in olden days used to be made of wheat. The flour used to be made in the local mills. They used to make potatocake, stampy and oatenmeal cake. The potatocake used to be made out of potatoes and flour. The stampy used to be made with pealed potatoes grated with a grater, squeezed in a cloth, mixed with cream and a small quantity of flour baked in a hot griddle. Oatenmeal bread used to be mixed with soda and salt
