  1. The marriages in our district take place at Easter and Shrove
    It is said that if a person got married on Shrove Tuesday and if they were not at his own home for twelve i clock that they could not come into their own house for the seven weeks of Lent.
    The unlucky months of the year on which to get married are May, June, August, and October.
    No cattle or any thing else but money is given as a fortune.
    It over two hundred and fifty years since the last marriage was held in a house.
