  1. Bread in olden days used to be made in the local mills. They used to make potatocake, stammpy and oatelmeal cake. The potatocake used to be made out of potatoes and flour. The stampy used to be made with pealed potatoes grated with a grater, squeezed in a cloth, mixed with cream and with a small quantity of flour baked in a hot griddle.
