    Once upon a time there lived a farmer near the town of Ardfert.

    Once upon a time there lived a farmer near the town of Ardfert. He had many servant boys. One of them used always look after the cattle. As he was driving the cattle home one evening he had to pass by a fort. He used hear talk in the fort every evening and this evening he heard them say "Get Me a Horse", "Get Me a Horse" and he said outside get me a horse too and they threw him out a piece of timber over the ditch and at the same time a crowd of men jumped out over the ditch and they told him to come on and he mounted the piece of timber and it galloped off like a horse with the others. They galloped on through Kerry
