  1. Stories about the Penal times 2-3-38
    In Ardfert there is a Mass rock and in the Penal days Mass was celebrated there. While the priest was saying Mass the English got word of it and landedin the midst of the congeration.
    They scattered and wreaked every thing. That was on the alter. They then removed the Mass rock with the aid of two bullocks.
    Not thief way to the hill the bullocks stopped suddenly and would not go a step farther. The next morning when the soldiers arrived they found the rock in its original place. The soldiers again tried to remove the rock with four or five bullocks but failed.
