the party up the road for silver. This was done by means of a long rope held at each side of the road by two boys or men.
Match-making is the custom in all country places. The parents or brothers of the bride generally visit the bride-groom's land beforehand. If they are satisfied with his land and cattle the match is then made and he gets several hundred pounds paid to him as a fortune.
There was always a wedding feast held in the bride's home. They had music and dancing and singing all day and all night. When the night came the "Straw-boys" and danced and feasted with the wedding party. All the straw boys dressed in gay colours.
