  1. There was a poet in our district long ago. His name was James Carmody. He died in the year 1936 aged 98 yeras. He was born in the year 1838. He could make poems but none of them were ever written down or sung locally. He made many songs about Ennismore.
Patrick Connor, Upper Banmore was a very good poet. When he was working in this district he wrote a poem in memory of George Hewson. Some of his songs are sung yet. He is living now and is training horses at the Curragh.
