  1. Long ago people never wore a pair of shoes until they were getting married. There are people who never wear shoes still in our district except when going to Mass. Nearly all the children going to school go barefoot in summer. It is a custom in this district to wash the feet down at the back-door, also it is unlucky to leave the feet water inside after you. It should be thrown out at the left hand side of the door. There are no shoemakers at present in the district but long ago there were two or three living here. The change is that now a days the shoes are sold in the shop. My father repairs our boot and shoes.
