They used make a whistler from the sycamore or ash tree. First you cut a straight smooth. Then you cut the size of the whistler and hammer it to loosen the bark. Next you turn off the bark when it is loose, and cut the inside wood to the shape of your whistler and it is then fitted into the bark and the whistler is finished.- Collector
