    to steal the spansell which was used for spanselling the neighbour's cows. They would put it under their own churn and the day that neighbour would be making the butter they would have it.
    Also if a neighbour could steal a coal of fire out of another neighbour's house they would put it into a pan and put it in the middle of the dairy floor and the day on which the neighbour would be making the butter they would have it in the pan and the other neighbour would have the ashes.
