  1. In 1921 the Ballyhorgan railway bridge was burned down by the republicans.
    One Sunday in the year 1935 a boy named Patrick Connelly was bathing in the river near the Point of the Island, and his head got struck in a weed and he could not release himself. Two boys from Ennismore were walking along the bank, they saw him and (they) swam out to rescue him, but when they brought him to the bank he was dead.
    A man named Tom Hartnett from Coolagown was coming from Listowel in a horse and car. The horse for frightened and ran, the car overturned the man was thrown out and was killed.
