- About a mile east of Annascaul there is a well situated in West Inch. It is a holy well. There is a common belief in the district that there is a cure in the water of the well, and the following story is connected with it.In the time of the Cromwellians a priest was "on the run." One morning while celebrating Mass in Inch Glen a band of Cromwellian soldiers came swooping down the glen. When the priest saw them he ran and they failed to find his path. He finished Mass on a huge rock near the sea in another glen further down near the sea. He washed(continues on next page)
