- Famous poets were Aodaghán O'Rathaille Loghan. Ruadh Ó Suilleabhan and Joe Dineen all natives of the parish.
Fr Stephen Dineen a brother to Joe was a noted writer - It is generally believed that when the hills seem near that rain is approaching. Other signs of rain are - the flight of crows after nightfall, the screaming of the curlún(curlew) when they flew near the ground and when the road is swarmed with ants.(continues on next page)
