- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)filling up the trenches, and when the Irish men would see that, They would start firing at the soldiers The English would have to turn around on the road. There was a few men below at Sheverie. It was on the 4th of July 1918. They were at the bridge of Sheverie, one man's name was Mick Small Gurtnacranna Upperchurch Co. Tipperary. A big lorry of soldiers came along. The men went in over the ditch. Some of them ran as hard as ever they could and there was a big drain at the side of the ditch. Mick Small got down in the drain. He thought the soldiers would not see him. When the soldiers got down of the lorry and got in over the ditch and then got down in the drain and they saw Mick Small. Then they pulled him out of the drain and put him into the lorry and went back to Templemore they had Mick Small killed in the lorry, But the rest of the men got away. One of the Irishmen made a narrow escape as well as Mick Small The other man was behind a bush when the soldiers passed down, and never saw him. The soldiers came back again and they never saw the man behind the ditch.
