    He fancied he saw his wife standing among her children, and as he arrived home he thought they embraced him with kisses and clamped him by the hands. As he slept he wept bitterly and upon the sandy desert fell his tears.
    He even thought he was racing at a terrific pace along the bank of the Niger. The bridle-reins were made of gold, and as the horses galloped speedily along he could feel his scabbard striking his stallions sides.
    He dreamt of the breeze whistling in the branches and as they rustled through the forests they shouted for freedom. The winds in the desert whistled so loud and
