  1. A Day in the life of a Postman
    My alarm whirs at six. I stop it mechanically. Then I shake the blanket off me and I jump out on the floor. How cold it is? I don't mind that. Then I say my prayers and get myself washed at twenty past six I am ready. If I am in good humour I sing a hearty song coming down the stairs. If I am not in good humour I sing a hearty song coming down the stairs. If I am not in good humour I wear a long hatched countenance. At half past six I am ready for the road. At seven I am in the post office.
    Breakfast is over at ten to seven and at seven I am busily working
