depending on the potato-crop and the result meant starvation among the people. Some of the people were found, not only, dying in their own houses but in the fields, on the roads and in the ditches. Some of them were found eating grass along the road, and eating cabbage and raw turnips in the fields. The poor people who had to pay a rent and who had no money were thrown out on the roads to perish with cold or to die with starvation. The people in this locality died from hunger.
