  1. Long ago people did not wear boots or shoes until they were sixteen or seventeen years of age. My fathers grand-father never wore a boot or a shoe. All the children at present go barefoot in the Summer. It is a custom with everyone to wash their feet on Good Friday and to keep the water because there is a cure in it.
