- My home District is in the townland of Rooska. It is in the Parish of Ardagh, and in the Barony of Glenquin. It contains about forty four families, and about two hundred people altogether. In the district there are twenty thatched houses.There are sixteen slate houses in it and eight houses with iron roofs on them. Rooska means a march or a swampy place, but it is dried by glens, and it is sheltered by alot of trees. There are about eight old people in the district who are over seventy years of age.There name are, Mrs McCoy, Mr Tom Madigan, and Mrs J Woulfe, John C Killmartin, and Pat Sheehan.
