  1. My father told me of a neighbouring man being drowned in a bog on his way from Ballyvary to his own house. His name was Thomas Smith. He lived in the village of Grallagh and some of his family are living there yet. It was a very stormy night and he was accidentally blown off the road into the boghole. There he perished and was dead when my father and other men found him in the morning. It is almost fifty years ago since this happened.
