- Local Marriage Customs
Whispering Sunday.
Whispering Sunday is the Sunday after the Twelfth Day and on that day mothers, aunts and cousins of a bride-to-be met in the church before Mass and held a whispered conversation about the marriage, which they hoped was to take place during Seraft. There were not many marriageable men of their acquaintance left, whom they did not well discuss among them.
