    Local Marriage Customs
    Strawboys.
    Strawboys went to the wedding in olden times. They are sometimes called blulleries or bloggernes. They dressed up in straw to disguise themselves and went to the wedding. They asked the bride to dance with them and they made great fun for the guests for a while as they were not known. They liked to be offered refreshments, for which they thanked the bride and bridegroom and they left in great good humour.
