  1. A man named Thomas McGowan, Cluainin, was coming from the fair of Swineford. He had to cross a bog on his way home. This happened on a dark winter's evening. The people say that when he stood on the bank to jump over the trench the bank slipped and he fell into the trench which was about 10 feet deep and he got drowned. The next morning he was found lying on the surface of the water. This happened 40 years ago.
