“Long ago people used to believe in fairies.”
Long ago people used to believe in fairies.
The people used to gather at a cross. It used to be late when they were going home at night. One night one of the men said that a big black dog followed him, and when he got inside the door, it was looking in the window at him. He was so frightened that he would never go outside the door after six o'clock.- Long ago people used not to go to the doctor as often as they go now.
They used to have a cure for a cold, and it was scalded buttermilk. They used to put the buttermilk into a saucepan on the fire until it was nearly boiled. They would take it off them, and put sugar and a lump of butter in it. They would take a drink of it every night going to bed. A spunk leaf steeped in vinegar was supposed to be good for corns.- Bailitheoir
