- There were poor people living round here a few years ago, and one day as they were all at home, a fine big sow walked into the yard. They couldn't find out where she came from, and as nobody claimed her, they kept her themselves.
The sow put the people on their backs again for they had enough to live on. The sow had a litter of bonhams twice every year for four or five years. After that they considered the sow was getting too old to live any longer, so they said they would kill her.
One or two of the neighbours came to help to kill her.
One or two of the neighbours came to help to kill her, and just before they put her on the board to kill her, one of them said that if they let her out for a run she would give the blood better.
At the side of the house there was a fort, and when they let her off, she made straight for the fort and was never seen since- Collector
