    This road if finished was to lead to the Crosshaven Road. But it was made in patches. Some of these are about a 1/4 mile long as each batch of men were working to meet each other. They ceased to make this road when the Famine years were over. The workmen got from fourpence to eightpence per week. They lived by the side of this road in mud houses the ruins of which can yet be seen. The Charity road leads to Minane. This was so called because this was one of the places where the people were fed during the Famine. This road might also have been made at that time. The Knockatoor Road leads through Knockatoor for Carrigaline. The Ferny Road leads to Carrigaline. This is so called because many ferns grow on the road ditches. There is a river crossing the Ferny road which is now covered with a bridge. Before this bridge was made a tall man was seen there. Most horses
