- There is a ruined castle at Ahamarta Carrigaline and Knockatour.
Carrigaline Castle stands on a high rock overlooking the estuary of the Owenboy - River which flows through Carrigaline, It is now on the land of Mr. Jonas Smyth Carrigaline
This castle was built by Milo De Cogan. It was built in the reign of King John and it was occupied by the Earls of Desmond for nearly two centuries until in the reign of Queen Elizabeth they had to give it up.
The Castle and the surrounding lands were afterwards bought by Sir Richard Boyle Earl of Cork and from him it descended to the Earl of Shannon Deputy Sydney fought at this castle.
It was supposed to be knocked by a shell from one of Cromwell's guns.
It is in the barony of Kerricurrihy in the parish of Carrigaline in County Cork.
There are many stone stools in the castles and from the Castle there is supposed to be an underground passage down to the estuary of the Owenboy. This was supposed to be used in time of danger they could go to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
