  1. There is an old fort on the farm of Mr. Harry Daunt. Fahalea Carrigaline which is about two and a half miles from Carrigaline. This fort and its surroundings occupy nearly an acre of ground. It is believed to be there since the time of the Danes. It is round in shape and about six feet high. It is surrounded by a wide drain. This drain must have been filled with water for it is connected with a shore which is said to run to a well on the mountain about a quarter of a mile away from the fort. The top of the fort is nearly level and in most parts of it a bank remains which rises about three feet over the roof.
    There is supposed to be a solid stone floor in the old fort. This was found out by men who were digging on top with bars. When one man was trying to pick out a stone with its bar it fell between the stones where they heard it ringing loudly on the floor. Treasure is said to be hidden in
