  1. (continued from previous page)
From Queenstown bound by orders to cross the Atlantic wave

    (II)
This vessel was an iron-clad with copper she was laden
Her sails they were all shattered because she got no haven
Two hundered days she ploughed the seas oh; sad it was her lot
That night she lay in Brandon bay where no anchor could be got

    (III)
Early next morning the seas began to roll
"Port Garrick" drew her anchor and to the seas did go
The sea rolled high and heavily 'twas plain she couldn't stand
Dark night approached she lay a wreck upon Kilcummin strand

    (IV)
And mournful was the scene as the ship began to break
And twenty human bodies into the deep were laid
Good Christians all who may pass by remember Brandon Bay
Where Captain Forbes and all his men close to the shore were laid
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
