- St Patrick's crosses were made of cardboard. This cardboard was about three inches in diameter and was shaped round. One short strip of cardboard and another long one were crossed in the middle for form a cross.The cross was covered all over with a green ribbon. The peoplde used to wear the crosses on their shoulders on St Patrick's Day. The children had smaller ones and the big people had larger ones. They were made in the shops and some people made them at home. The people wore them in honour of St Patrick,
