  1. The Chimneys long ago were made of switches and of yellow clay.. There were long sticks made round like a basket, then others were crossed and were all made tight together.
    When this was done they mixed yellow clay with water and made it nice and thiin and they put it on both sides of the sticks.
    When the clay was dried and stuck to the sticks it was white washed on both sides. There were seats made of stone on each side fo the fire.
