    Ainm Duine a bhfuaras an sgéal uaidh:-
    John Turner, Meaugh, Boolavogue Ferns. (aged 46) - who heard these stories from his mother 30 years ago.
    His mother died in 1917 aged 70
    His mother was born and reared in Ballybeg, Ferns
    Father John Murphy.
    He stopped with the Doyles of Craanmore in Carlow when he was "on his keeping" after the fight at Scollagh Gap.
    He used to come to the house for his dinner but he got afraid he would be seen coming to the house & Mrs Doyle brought it out to him. Then he gave up coming near the place altogether & Mrs Doyle heard no more about him for a time till at last word came he was a prisoner.
    After '98 Mrs Doyle married Phil Murphy a brother of Father John Murphy's.
    Mrs Mary Farrell (sister to John Turner) who lives in Ballycadden in Kilrush had Father John Murphy's chalice and John Turner saw it in an oak chest in her house 32 years ago. The foot was broken and outside was mouldy green.
