- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the stalks and all other weeds have to be pulled and burned before digging them. The way they are dug is either with a spade or a plough or digging machine. Children and men pick them and make pits of them on the garden.
They are put into pits and turned two or three times during winter and spring. Earth and draw rushes are put upon them. The Kerr Pinks are the chief kind of potatoes which are sown in this district because they are the best. Potatoes were often used as starch long ago.
