Ar an leathanach seo

    Herbs used as food :-
    (a) Water-grass boiled with bacon like cabbage
    (b) Nettle boiled with bacon
    (c) The docken and the "forsin" for animals, it is cut up finelly and put into a pot of gruel.
    (d) The dandelion is often mixed with gruel for fowl.
    Principal Poisons:-
    (a) Bog beam and the yew tree. There is poison in almost every herb growing, except the carrot.

  2. The Ragwort is the only weed that harms our farm. It spreads rapidly and it destroys the grass. It seeds every year and the wind scatters the seeds through the land and in this way its numbers increase every year.
    The fox-glove or glove of the fairies, is, it is said, when made into broth and used as medicine a cure for sore throat. The dandelion when boiled is said to be tonic for nerves.
    The thistle and the dock are said to grow only on good soil. Scutch grass and "black heads" always grow on bad land.
