   Fridays and Saturdays are thought unlucky for changing from one house to another, it is said that Saturday's flitting makes a short sitting
   If the oats is not sown before the Cuckoo comes it will not grow and there will be no oats for that year.

   The luckiest days for getting the cure of the heart fever made are Mondays and Thursdays. The lucky day for ploughing is Friday. The unlucky day for changing from one house to another is Saturday.
   In my district the "Cross-Day of the year is held on St. Brigid's Day. On that day the people make St. Brigid's Cross and put it up in the roofs of the houses. It is said that this custom is kept in memory of St. Patrick when he banished the snakes out of Ireland.
   The shortest day of the year or 21st of December is looked upon as the best day for setting onions and the longest day or 21st June is looked upon as the best day for pulling onions.
   On the first day of October there sweeps a gale of wind that destroys and flattens the crop of oats. It is called the "Michaelmas Wind"
