  1. In olden times the houses were built of sods. They were very small houses with small windows. There is an old house in Rossmount this was built of stone.
    It belonged to John Costelloe. It was himself who built it. The ruin can now be seen. The houses usually were very black and dirty with one small room and a kitchen.
