- The present road from Cloneen to Fethard was made as a Relief Scheme in the Famine times.
The old road was to go down a rough way a far as Mike Hoolihan's bridge about 200 yards from the village. Then the road consisted of the bed of the river up as far as Garrangyle bridge (still called the watery road] and up through the Gleann Dyher (or Dyke) along through Rathkenny + down by Brookhill.
As proof of this the narrator's father was born in Rathkenny House - his mother being on the road to Fethard when she was taken ill and had to go in to the house where the child was born.
This road used to connect with the "Dublin Road" at the 'Rookery' (between Cloneen + Drangan).
A track is still to be seen skirting Kylenagrana hill- Faisnéiseoir
