There was a woman who lived alone and she had a cow calving.

    72
There was a woman who lived alone and she had a cow calving. She sent for a few men to look after the cow; when the men came the cow had calved; they carried the calf into the house. When they went out to the byre again they saw a woman sitting beside the cow. When she saw them coming she disappeared.
The men went into the house again and as soon as they left she came to the byre again. They only turned on their heels in the house and then made for the byre again and there she was just in the same place. One man gave her a rap of a stick and she began to laugh and disappeared.
