- There are wonderful improvements in the houses now compared with the houses long ago.
The houses long ago were made of mud, earth and wattles and they were very low, shabby little houses and there was only one panel of glass in each window. Before that the people had no glass in their windows but netted wire and a alight window screen inside that. When the glass windows came into fashion they were considered very stylish. Some of these houses were built near a bank of turf and had [?] and bogdeal for roofing.- Collector
