  1. Rheumatism
    The old people used a garlic mixture to clear the blood. The garlic was procured, each nail separately peeled and pint of cold water added to three or four "heads of garlic". It was placed near the fire and kept simmering until soft. It was then strained and sweetened with sugar and taken before each meal.
