    for it. A month before hand the people used to go to the mountain and strip the tough scraw of it so that it would be dry when needed. They would cover the timber then with this and bind them to the laths with "surgeons" and then it was ready for thatching.
    A good many of these houses hadnt any windows but instead holes were bored in through the mud walls.
