  1. About 16 years ago a chalice was found in this parish. Father Beazley was P. P. of Duagh and it was the custom for each farmer in the parish to give the priest a rail of turf for use in the presbytery.
    As the priest's man was breaking up some turf for the kitchen fire one day he discovered a chalice within a sod. As there were turf from various bogs in the shed at the time it was impossible to as certain from which the chalice had come.
